Father's Day T-Bone

Father's Day T-Bone

I’m KayDee Gilkey and welcome to Open Range. Here’s Greg with today’s report.

Thanks KayDee. Father’s Day is this Sunday and Kim Brackett, Idaho Rancher and Chair of the Cattlemen’s Beef Board talks about how her husband celebrates on the farm.

BRACKETT: Father’s Day is a pretty exciting holiday here at my house, mostly because my son’s birthday is on June 16th so we generally share that day, Father’s Day and my son’s birthday and probably like a lot of families we let the dad decide what we’re going to do all day and sometimes we brand calves because that’s my husbands absolute favorite activity is roping calves.

Of course there is always a good meal planned.

BRACKETT: Regardless of how we spend the day, our family traditions that we always in the evening have a great, fantastic beef meal. We grill steaks and we celebrate Father’s Day by my children giving their father their homemade gifts for him, their handmade cards.

Brackett talks about a great beef idea for Father’s Day.

BRACKETT: My husbands favorite is a t-bone and we’ve got this standby recipe in my family we always turn to on Father’s Day. It’s on the Beef It’s What’s For Dinner web site and it’s called the Spicy Five Pepper T-Bone Steak. You season it with some peppercorns and some Kosher salt, throw it on the grill and while it’s grilling you make this steak sauce to pour over it. My husband loves it - absolute favorite!

I’m Greg Martin and that’s today’s AgriBeef Minute.

Thanks Greg. Don’t forget Greg will be back each Wednesday with the AgriBeef Minute. Agri Beef Co - Real Families, Great People, Exceptional Beef. I’m KayDee Gilkey.
