WSU's Beef Conference Open for All PNW Beef Producers

In a joint effort Washington State University Extension, Department of Animal Sciences and Veterinary Medicine Extension are sponsoring an upcoming WSU Beef Production Conference. It will be held June 13 and 14th at the Central Washington State Fairgrounds facility in Yakima.?WSU Extension Regional Livestock Specialist Dr. Don Llewellyn shares more about the two-day event.?Llewellyn: "We're really excited to have Dr. Larry Corah coming from Certified Angus Beef and he is going to talk about the state of the beef industry today. Randy Blach will be coming from Cattle Fax is one of our speakers. We also got have Dr. Bob Weaber from Kansas State University talking about genomics. WE've got 18 different workshops during the conference. We've got some outdoor activities — for example a heifer genomics exercise and a low-stress cattle handling activity that we are going to do outdoors."?One of the focuses of this conference is the opportunity for producers to get some hands on experience as Llewellyn explains.?Llewellyn: "One of the great things of having the outdoor activities — like the heifer genomics exercise — is that folks get tired of sitting inside.
