Checking In On Clore

Checking In On Clore. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Fruit Grower Report.

The Walter Clore Wine and Culinary Center has become a reality and it has been interesting to follow its progress over the last 5 years or so. Abbey Cameron, Director of Events and Marketing for the center gives us an update.

CAMERON: As of the beginning of the year I’ve been appointed Director for the Clore Center project and it’s going to be a big year. 2012 was the year of the design effort that took a good long process to be comprehensive to make sure we were getting the building that would meet our needs. 2013 has been the construction year and that has been completed and finished up as of January 2014 so 2014 is going to be get the door open year.

Cameron describes the mission of the Clore Center.

CAMERON: I summarize it as being a visitor center for Washington wine and agriculture. We have a tasting room - part of the facility and by the springtime we plan to get that open to the public and we are a tasting room for Washington wine. We don’t produce any of our own. It’s about promoting all of the wonderful Washington wine out there. Every month we will pour a different selection of Washington wine featuring wine from all over the state.

And she says there will be a lot more than just wine tasting.

CAMERON: We’ll have programs and wine maker dinners and seminars people can participate in around those wines that we are pouring. The story really comes to life in the exhibits that we’ll have in that tasting room as well so it’s really an experience when you walk in the door to learn all about Washington wine, Dr. Clore, some of the founders of the industry. We’re really telling all of those stories in one place.

That’s today’s Fruit Grower Report. I’m Greg Martin on the Ag Information Network.
