Potato Drop & RFA President Upbeat plus Taking the Weight Off. I'm Greg Martin with today's Northwest Report.

Times Square has their lighted ball but now Idaho has the Giant Potato Drop. This was the first year for organizers of the event and by all account it was a success. Idaho is the self proclaimed potato capital so what better way to highlight the New Year than a Potato Drop event. Organizers say it will be back next year with a few changes. Local businesses saw an increase in clientele, especially local restaurants and pubs. Organizer Dylan Cline spent about $75-thousand dollars out of pocket and hopes that next year he will see a bit of return.

And by the end of the year as we were harvesting the single largest corn crop in our nation's history the economics in the industry really did turn around and I think profitability for the year for most producers is going to look pretty strong.

Now losing weight the right way. Gary Crawford has more on your New Year resolution to drop a few pounds.
