Leadership Idaho Agriculture is Premier Program

Since 1986 the Leadership Idaho Agriculture program has been enhancing the leadership skills of participating class members representing farms and ranches, related ag-businesses as well as rural communities. The are four seminars held at four different locations around the state during the months of November though February.

A member of the current LIA Class 34 -- Alise Erickson is a third generation LIA participant -- as both her parents and grandfather are alumni of the program. She shares more about the program

Erickson: "We know as a family how important it is involved in the agricultural community. It is such a good opportunity to network, to meet new people and to have that sense of community with agricultural people in the state -- especially since we are trying to be advocates for agriculture."

This week LIA's Class 34 has been in Pocatello for their second seminar. Erickson shares more about what she learned at the first seminar in Moscow in November.

Erickson: "That first session was so much fun. I loved it. It was wonderful getting to really know everyone -- they are such a diverse group of people. I would have never have met any of them if not for LIA. And definitely the time together -- we do a lot of public speaking and policy work - which is important if we want to protect agriculture which is what we want to do."
