Agribusiness Update for Thursday 11/7/13

The Senate has announced conferees for the upcoming negotiations for the Water Resources Reform and Development Act.The House has not named its conferees. The hope is that the legislation can be completed this year. The Water Resources Reform and Development Act was overwhelmingly approved by the House with a 417 to 3 vote recently.

A new YouTube channel provides agricultural safety videos with value for extension agents and educators, agricultural science teachers, producers, owners and operators, first responders and agricultural families. The U.S. Agricultural Safety and Health Centers channel is a joint project of the 10 agricultural centers funded by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health.

As the Obama Administration prepares for trade talks set to begin next week with European authorities, Senators Maria Cantwell and Mike Crapo are leading a bipartisan letter urging the administration to prioritize reducing trade barriers pear and apple growers face in European markets.
