8-22 SS Red's Fly Shop

When I started doing the first versions of Sportsman’s Spotlight, I used to call Craig Henninger all the time at Red’s fly shop in Ellensburg, Washington. Red’s is located right on the Yakima River and when I talked with Craig, I always got tons of information that was very useful about all things flyfishing. Well since that time we have found our flyfishing guru in Josh Mills, and I haven’t had a chance to catch up with Craig in a long time. So I picked up the phone and caught up with him. “What’s new in the world of fly fishing  and Red’s Flyfishing shop? We have a brand-new shop. We just moved in in November and we have a massive amount of inventory. You can go out and cast on the casting lawn. It’s beautiful with a café in it so we can eat. You built a brand-new building? Yes and all new building. What prompted that? It was time. We were living in a shoebox. It was the original owners trailer which had an addition for the fly shop. It had no washing facilities and an outhouse. It had no air-conditioning and the electricity kept failing and it was nasty. You never told me that when I used to interview you but now… I didn’t want to tell you that. Well life is better now.
