05/10/05 Wedding toasts

Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran. Yesterday a listener wrote in with a question about selecting glasses for a wedding. And I realized that it is that time of year again. So today, we are going to look at some of our favorite, short and sweet toasts, to make at weddings. Yes the wedding season is again upon us and thinking about what you want to say when toasting the Bride and Groom is not always easy. So why not look to some of the toasts that have always done the job. First of all - everyone appreciates a short sweet toast, as opposed to the long often drunken ramble. So, planning ahead is a good idea. For example, one of my favorites is "May you live as long as you like, and have all you like as long as you live." Or another very optimistic and loving thought is this toast "To the bride and groom: May we all be invited to your golden wedding celebration." If you are a bridesmaid and just want to say something with humor try this one "To the bride: May she share everything with her husband, including the housework." Or something a bit more inclusive and sweet might be "To our friends: May fortune be as generous with them - as she has been in giving us - their friendship." Yeah, that is sweet. If you are the groomsmen or best buddies of the groom try this quick toast "To the groom: He may be leaving us for a better life, but we aren't leaving him." You can find these and few other quick toasts on our website at vine to wine dot net and thank you for joining me on today's Vine to Wine.
