“One is the Idaho beef Council website which is IDbeef.org.”  Those are the words coming from Traci Bracco, Executive Director, Idaho Beef Council. And a very good reason to get in touch with the Idaho Beef Council is to enter contests such as the drawing contest that they recently held.

The Idaho Beef Council says they are proud to announce Anna Klingonsmith as the Grand Prize winner of the 2013 “Cattle are Amazing!” Drawing Contest.  Anna is a member of Virginia Bradley’s fifth grade class at Madison Middle School in Rexburg, Idaho.  An award ceremony was recently held to honor Anna.  As the winner, she was the recipient of a $100 gift certificate to Toys-R-Us and her class was given a cheeseburger pizza party.  In addition, Madison Middle School received a $250 gift certificate to Office Depot for entering her artwork into the contest.  The 5th grader’s artwork was a depiction of a game show format, complete with host and contestants discussing why Cattle are Amazing.

“Currently, most students are three generations removed from agriculture,” says Traci Bracco, Executive Director of the Idaho Beef Council.  “By offering students this opportunity, we hope to educate them about how animal agriculture touches their everyday lives.”

The drawing contest is held for all Idaho students in grades K-6 and entries are judged based on three categories:  Grades K-1, Grades 2-3, and Grades 4-6.  The contest is designed as an opportunity for teachers to bring the topic of agriculture into their classrooms.  Educators were asked to provide their classrooms with a lesson plan featuring the significance of cattle in our lives.
