Beef Day

Beef Day

Beef Day. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Line On Agriculture.

This Thursday is going to be a big day at the Washington State Capital. It starts off with the 100th anniversary of the Washington State Department of Agriculture and then moves into the 5th annual Beef Day. Jack Field with the Washington Cattlemen’s.

FIELD: It’s an opportunity to; I guess in a nutshell it’s a shameless self-promotion of the cattle industry here in Washington State. It gives an opportunity for cow/calf feeders and dairy and beef processors to come together and provide quite possibly the best free lunch you will find in Washington State.

That is of course their famous tri-tip sandwiches they will be barbecuing on the Capital grounds.

FIELD: It’s a great opportunity to visit; talk about and discuss various legislative issues or regulatory issues that may be facing livestock and agricultural producers in Washington State as well as just have a chance to put a face to the industry and let our policy and lawmakers understand and see who the people are on the other end of the stick.

I’m proud to say that I was a part of getting a couple of resolutions passed for both the House and Senate being signed that day for the National Day of the Cowboy which works well for the cattle industry.

FIELD: You’ve got the resolutions you’re working on as well as we’re also going to be celebrating with the Department of Agriculture their centennial so it’s a great opportunity. I’m excited to have you and your family and everybody come over and join us.

That’s today’s Line On Agriculture. I’m Greg Martin on the Ag Information Network.
