3-18 SS Sawtooth
At the sportsmen’s show in Boise, I ran into Darl Allred who owns Sawtooth Wilderness Outfitters specializing in back country fishing. “Through the summer months, we do a lot of back country fishing. There are 140 lakes in the Sawtooths and we are licensed and permitted to go to all of these. Depending on what type of fishing you would like to do we tailor each trip. If you want to catch a lot of fish we take you to a lake where there are brook trout, it want to get into larger fish, we go for cutthroats and rainbows. The Sawtooths are unique in that we have also got some graylings. Do you personally guide these trips? I am in on the majority of the trips. I do a lot of the camp chores, cooking etc. as far as fishing guides, the majority of the people that I take are better fisherman than me. If it is a beginner we can help them out just perfectly. We have good country cooking. We eat very hardy in the back country. We fly fish and do a lot of spin casting. If we take you in and you do everything on your own it costs $125 per horse. Our fully furnished trip where we apply everything runs $225 per person per day.
