3-19 SS Distress call

3-19 SS Distress call

I ran into Shad Harrison at the Boise sportsmen’s show.  He makes wild game calls and I wanted him tell me about it.  “Harrison Calls is a family owned business that I started 2 years ago. I wasn’t happy with some of the calls on the market so I decided to go out and do what I could better  with natural things such as wood, horns, antlers and it has been a huge success. What are you calling? Muleys, elk, what? Elk, duck, goose and  predator calls. So coyotes, bobcats, cougars. How did you come up with the idea of manufacturing these things?  Wouldn’t you know it. Just as I asked that question, up comes a customer, business is business, I had to move on, so to finish the story, I called his wife Treva in Vale, Oregon. My husband purchased a jack rabbit distress call and it is a pretty well known brand. He was very dissatisfied with the sound. So he said he thought he could do better than that. Our very 1st call that he has done production work with has been the coyote call,  the Jack rabbit distress call. So the sound is like that of a jack rabbit who has been injured, correct? Exactly, it is like a dying Jack rabbit and the coyote thinks this is going to be an easy meal. The dying. That’s why it sounds so horrible.
