2-18 IAN Canada Wheat

The Idaho Wheat Commission is discussing Canada.

The Idaho Wheat Commission’s Tereasa Waterman told me that their people are discussing changes in Canada’s wheat board. “The Canadian Wheat Board dissolved this last year and that is going to impact the Pacific Northwest wheat flow of grain. We are actually probably going see that border is all between Canada and the United States now at the Canadian wheat Board has dissolved and we will see more  wheat flowing from Canada this way and there will probably be more going from here to Canada, but just the way the transportation is going to move in Canada, we are probably going to see more Canadian grain coming down through Portland. (Do we want to see Canadian wheat?) You know it is not so much going to impact the Pacific Northwest, it is probably going to impact more Montana, North  Dakota, the hard red spring areas because of the mills that are there. They may source more wheat from Canada. They may end up with prices changing as a result of that and so it will be interesting to hear that perspective on where it is going, you know we are not going to see anything in the next one or 2 years but probably 3 to 5 years out, the way that the wheat movement is going to change
