2-14 IAN BLM Terror

Rocky Barker wrote an article in the Idaho Statesman saying “an Owyhee County rancher was so mad at grazing cutbacks recently announced by the Bureau of Land Management, he had to leave the county courtroom in Murphy where the meeting was being held.”  You know who else was mad? VP of the Idaho Cattle Association, Wyatt Prescott: “I hope I can my blood pressure low enough to talk about it. There are 68 permits out there and a 2000 litigation said that the NEPA was inadequate on it and that litigation, of course, was led by our environmental friends from up in Haley,  so in 2008 it stipulated an agreement that by 2013 the BLM had to go back in there and re-new the permits. That was issued in 2008, therefore, in 2012 BLM decided that they had better get to work on it. What you are seeing in the paper and hearing about is called group 4 and it is basically for allotments which they have done an environmental assessment on and they proposed alternatives in terms of managing those allotments and now we are at that period where their proposed decision on how those permits will look. They are extremely appalling to the grazing industry. Essentially they issued cuts up to 50% reduction in utilization which is crippling and will put some of those family businesses out of business.
