Agriculture is Funny!

Agriculture is Funny! I’m Greg Martin with today’s Line On Agriculture.

Damian Mason is a funny guy but really he just tells the truth...and obviously that is pretty funny. Mason has been traveling the country for years now as a humorist.

MASON: I quit my job in 1994 to become a political comedian and political satirist and I haven’t looked back. It was July of 1994, I had three gigs lined up for the rest of my adult career and it worked out.

Having the ability to mimic a certain boomer President didn’t hurt either.

MASON: (Bill Clinton Voice) Well you see Greg, when I start talking about things as Bill Clinton, what you need to understand, and I told Hilary this a long time ago, that there is no way that you are ever going to not sound this way as long as you did not inhale. It’s just going to be this way...

Since that time he has moved into talking to farmers about farming and even though there is always a good laugh, there is a message.

MASON: A program that I do like today was called “Humor for the Heart of Agriculture” and I mean that, meaning the heart of agriculture - the pulse is obviously the people. And these people that are here today at this potato conference put the food on America’a plates. Most of them are completely misunderstood. Their industry is completely misunderstood so I take this thing where I get up there for 60 minutes and talk, I’m going to make them laugh. I’m going to make them enjoy their conference/ I’m going to put smiles on their faces but I’m also going to be very positive about the business of agriculture.

That’s today’s Line On Agriculture. I’m Greg Martin on the Ag Information Network.
