1-24 IAN Permanent Foltz
The University of Idaho has appointed a temporary leader of its College of Agricultural and Life Sciences while it looks for a permanent replacement.
The school in Moscow recently named John Foltz to the interim dean post. Foltz has been associate dean since 2004 and I asked him now that he is interim dean, does he have any ambition to become full-time dean permanently: “ It is kind of the academic thing. Upper administration, the president and the Provost have indicated that they would like to open the search for permanent dean here within the next month or 2 but fairly quickly isquotes because you know how academics work. Yes, I know, I am an ex college professor from the University of Washington. So you do not have any ambition to be the full-time guy? I would not say that at all. The appropriate response, David, is wait and see. Certainly I have some interest and ambition along that front but we will see how the interim spot goes and it will be like a dating period. My role as interim it is definitely different than my role would be if it was permanent. For now my primary responsibilities are to continue the continuity of the college.
