12-10 IAN N-Serve

Growers either already have or are preparing to apply their fall and early winter-applied nitrogen. Dow AgroSciences Market Developer Chris Berry says a nitrogen stabilizer - like N-Serve - protects the growers largest investment in the crop and ensures nitrogen is available when and where the corn needs it most in the spring. Coming out of one of the worst droughts in the United States - Berry says many growers wonder why they need to use nitrogen stabilizers - but he says they aren’t applied for today - but to protect the nitrogen against typical spring rains.

“We normally have a lot of spring rains that can result in nitrogen loss. When you take 28 of the last 30 years we have had rainfall in the spring that resulted in significant nitrogen loss so to apply in a drought condition, you don’t apply for the drought condition, you apply to protect against rains that will be coming because every drought that I am aware of has ended at some point in time.”

By applying a nitrogen stabilizer - Berry says growers can be confident nitrogen will be available at the root zone during the key stages of corn growth. Berry says N-Serve has gone through rigorous testing to be the only EPA-registered nitrification inhibitor.
