Taking the Ag Conversation to the Big City

Taking the Ag Conversation to the Big City

Taking the Ag Conversation to the Big City??

I’m KayDee Gilkey with the Northwest Farm and Ranch Report.

Too often those of us in agriculture are more comfortable preaching to the choir about the importance of agriculture.
Recently the U.S. Farmers and Ranchers Alliance took the conversation to New York City and they didn’t shy away from the hot topics. Their panel discussions were on ag biotechnology, the use of antibiotics in farm animals and the impact of marketing and the media on consumer food choices.
USFRA Board member and Arkansas farmer Weldon Wynn shares.

Wynn: “We had a lot of folks that were in attendance live there. In fact there was over 150 people that participated in that audience and another 2200 and something viewed it Livestream. So we had a really good meeting in New York.”

Because of the many different segments that make up agriculture, no one producer can be expected to know about or understand all of the issues that agriculture faces. The USFRA’s website fooddialogues.com does a wonderful job of sharing the information so both consumers and other producers can understand the issues.

Wynn: “Consumers were seeking answers about how the food was grown or raised. We did talk about antibiotics and we talked about biotechnology. We talked about many things that are at the forefront of this coming year and are what consumers in our nation and around the world wants to know.”
If you are sorry that you missed the NewYork Food Dialogues, you can see them on the USFRA website.
