12-6 IAN I Support

The Idaho Wine Commission announced the launch of a new campaign aimed to increase local support of the booming Idaho wine industry. Here is Idaho Wine commission spokesperson Sarah Dirks: “The “I Support Idaho Wines” initiative is designed to bring attention to and highlight the successes of Idaho wineries by encouraging state residents to take pride in their local wines and their potential to compete among the most notable varietals across the globe. “I Support Idaho Wines” initiative showcases the many ways Idahoans can support their wineries, the easiest being to drink and enjoy a bottle with friends and family. Another way to support Idaho’s wine industry is to join the “Crush Club.” The Club offers Idahoans an opportunity to give back to the Idaho Wine Commission and receive benefits in return, such as exclusive wine tours at local wineries and other unique offers.”  Supporting local wines also keeps money within the state economy and gives wineries additional opportunities to expand their presence in the state. Donations will help market and promote Idaho wines throughout the state, region, and nation. It will also help educate Idaho restaurant employees and distributors to increase the number of Idaho wines on local menus, allow an Idaho winery to submit wine to a nationally recognized competition or send an Idaho Wine Commission representative to regional and national wine events to promote Idaho wine. Donations also provide scholarships to students through the Idaho Wine Education Foundation to further their education in viticulture and enology, therefore continuing and improving the Idaho wine industry’s future.
