11-23 SS Skeena

11-23 SS Skeena

The fishing trip of a lifetime way up in British Columbia that combines raw beauty, conservation and phenomenal fly-fishing. I’m David Sparks… Our fly fishing correspondent Josh Mills took a trip with his dad  and cannot recommend it enough. “ If you are a steelhead or a salmon fishermen I want you to put on your bucket list a trip up to Northwest British Columbia and fish the Skeena river system and its tributaries. The Skeena system is the same size as the Snake River system but it is virtually one of the best and the last undammed, and un-hatchery influenced systems in the world for wild steelhead. We went up and fished the Maurice River for a couple of days, the Bolkley River, the Skeena and encountered amazing sights and scenes and amazing water. We caught fish such as line burning steelhead but it was getting in and embedded with the area, the history, meeting folks who  are leading conservation efforts to keep the Skeena  wild and fighting for conservation of those sacred headwaters. We fished for 5 days and the fish that we caught and the experiences we had made for the trip of a lifetime. They have the world’s largest flyfishing rod up there.
