It must be absolutely great  to be  raising those beautiful black steers that originated in Scotland, thus the name Angus, and eventually made their way to the USA in the 1870s. Good news seems hard to come by as the beef business discusses drought and soaring inputs. But recent Certified Angus Beef sales numbers show a bright spot in high-quality beef demand. Brand partners sold 74-million pounds of beef in June - four-percent above a year ago. C-A-B Vice President Mark Polzer says that’s the highest monthly volume in the brand’s 34-year history: “we have been very fortunate in that the Certified Angus Beef has continued to grow in spite of they declining overall beef supply. It really points to the quality of the brand in terms of how people are perceiving it. As beef prices continue to go up because of the supply situation, it has created an opportunity for our brand to set itself even further apart.”

Polzer says foodservice leads the growth in Angus sales. Demand for ribeye and strip steaks held strong - even with those cuts at record high prices
