Debunking myths about the beef industry.
I’m kind of in an embarrassing position, because I guess I’m part of the media and yet so many members of the media take great liberties with the truth. You certainly see that in politics all the time… As in the media almost exclusively supports the liberal agenda being followed by the present administration. But Traci Bracco, Executive Director of the Idaho Beef Council points out that there are a lot of media misinterpretations in terms of the healthiness of beef: “Breaking down the myths about our industry. As we know, sensational stories are what capture headlines in the media but often times our industry is a target and information that is circulating out there is false. Recently the beef check off unveiled a new website to set the record straight on a number of topics that consumers have questions about or they hear in a negative manner in the media. The website is called facts about beef.com and is there to debunk myths about beef. It features such common myths and categories such as animal care, the environment, nutrition and food safety. For instance in the nutrition section, we often hear the method that eating red meat is dangerous to your health. The fact is that red meat and good health go hand in hand. Eating red meat daily can actually lower cholesterol and is part of a heart healthy diet. This site contains information about the latest research and the newest studies. It sites such sources as the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
