8-30 SS Fish Web Site
Regular correspondent Josh Mills has discovered a website called Felt Soul Media. he thinks so highly of it I don’t have time to talk. Listen to him. “ if you’re into conservation especially fish conservation as well as some amazing cinematography, I encourage you to check out Felt Soul Media. They had a guys behind some award-winning documentaries. I started out with The Hatch which chronicled the salmon fly hatch on the Gunnison River and then went on to Running Down the Man which is a story about flyfishing for rooster fish on the Baja beaches but the last 2 works, one that is out and one that is in production, one is called Red Gold and it chronicles the dilemma that is going on right now in Bristol Bay where the sockeye fishery and the world’s largest open pit mine that is said in the very sensitive fish habitat and the perils that are laying in front right now is gripping testimony of major corporations versus native people versus commercial salmon which is a gigantic industry itself but it’s a huge issue that contrasts sustainability over mining. One that is currently in view and the trailer is on the website is called Damnation and it deals with the controversy that is going around right now with a lot of dams potentially being ripped out because their shelf life is over they are endangering critical fish habitat or they are not producing any electricity anymore. The cinematography is amazing, they tell stories from both viewpoints, without a doubt, breathtaking work
