6-21 SS Brazda Guides
Jeff Brazda of Brazda’s Flyfishing Services is located in Ellensburg, Washington. He told me that he started fishing with his grandfather at 7 years of age and just naturally fell in love with this wonderful outdoor activity. In his mid-30s, this fishing enthusiast decided he did not want to work construction anymore, I guess hung out his shingle, and started guiding. Jeff says he wanted to share his knowledge and all of the excitement that accompany flyfishing with others. He fishes all waterways throughout the Northwest concentrating a lot of his time on the Yakima River In Washington state and rivers in Montana. Even though Jeff says that he is mostly a steelhead guy, and loves guiding steelhead flyfishermen at all levels, he advises novice fly fisherman to start with something else. “Actually, we will take out anybody. I try to reserve the trout fishing for the novices. It gives them a little more interaction and a few more bites. So the beginners go trout fishing 1st. They get a hand on the rod, they get used to it, they learn a little bit about casting and drifting and it is a lighter rod.” And when fishing in the Northwest is not available, Brazda’s fly fishing services can take you South. As his website says they travel from Alaska to the Yucatán Peninsula.
