6-15 SS Father's Day
Father’s Day and the great outdoors. How do the 2 combine? I will have an answer for that in 1 min.
Had a chat with regular reporter for the show, Josh Mills on Thursday, and not surprisingly, Josh, who is very close to his dad, had some thoughts about Father’s Day. “Growing up in the outdoors I really cherished the time I had with my father and my older relatives. They took me out into the outdoors and now as a father I am going with my 19 month old little son, I can’t wait to bring him and show him all of the things that I loved whether it be discovering tadpoles as a young kid or picking up my 1st deer or landing my 1st steelhead. It makes me more and more aware of how we need to bring kids into the outdoors. It doesn’t have to be a special day it doesn’t have to be a guided trip, it can be a trip to the local pond or to a local lake and sharing time together. I feel that it is the foundation of my relationship with my father and my parents but as we look here at Father’s Day it was based on the out doors. There was never a time that I had that when I was younger and going through those rough teenage years that I couldn’t talk to my dad because we spent so much time in the truck together driving out to certain places our pheasant hunting. Even if you don’t have a son or daughter and it doesn’t have to be just sons, please bring your daughters into the outdoors because it will build that foundation and if you are an uncle, if you’re a friend, whatever, invite your kids to get out and I will bet they will jump at the chance to join you afield. And get them away from texting. Yeah get them off the cell phone.”
Happy Father’s Day everybody.
