4-26 FB EPA and Beef
Recently, the Idaho Statesman informed us all thatThe Environmental Protection Agency unveiled its new permit to regulate water runoff and pollution from some of Idaho's biggest cattle and dairy feedlot operators. Only producers who actually discharge runoff into nearby surface waters need the new permit, a change from the previous version that required a permit for those proposing to do so. According to Wyatt Prescott, executive director of the Idaho cattlemen’s Association this doesn’t affect anybody in the Idaho cattle industry. “If you are a feedlot that tends to discharge waste in any waterway of the US, then you have to file this permit with the EPA. There is literally no beef operators in the state of Idaho that need the permit or who discharge or have the potential to discharge.”
