 Tereasa Waterman from the Idaho Wheat Commission is one of those people who really cares about their job. I was talking to her the other day about an IWC meeting and she had this question for me: “David I was wondering. I am getting ready to send out a press release for the direct seed workshop that is scheduled for Idaho Falls. Do you do specific areas like that? Are you asking me if I limit my interest in agriculture only to the area around Boise? Absolutely not. We have lots of listeners all over the state of Idaho. My press release is for the Idaho Falls, Preston area over there. If I sent that to you would you do a piece on it?”

 Here’s your answer Tereasa:  The South Idaho Direct Seed Workshop will be hosted by the Idaho Wheat Commission (IWC) on Thursday, March 8 at the Hilton Garden Inn, 700 Lindsay Blvd, Idaho Falls. Registration will begin at 9:00 am. The workshop will run from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm. One of the featured speakers this year will be Richard Smiley, professor of plant pathology at Oregon State University.  Dr. Smiley focuses his research on methods to control root diseases of wheat and barley caused by soilborne plant-pathogenic fungi and plant-parasitic nematodes. Presentations will address a variety of timely topics.
