9-27 SS Rod's Rods
If your name was Rodney, make that Rod for short, can you imagine what the perfect career would be?
Rodney Bollinger is a rod maker… as in beautifully crafted fishing rods made out of graphite and very artistically colored. It doesn’t matter what kind of rod you want for what kind of fishing… he makes it. “Pretty much anything that everybody wants. Fly rods, spinning rods for walleye, trout, bass, salmon, I have built some saltwater rods, some surf rods. Along of your bass rods are short and stout, salmon rods can vary from very light to really heavy, most of the guys are using between a 9 and 9 ½ to 10 ½ foot rod blank and the bass are in the 6 to 7 foot range, and salt water just depends on what they are after for fish. You can use a 4 foot rod and put handles on it to make it 6 or 7 feet or you can build jigging rods that are in the 6 to 8 foot range to jig for sea bass or ling cod or you can get into stiff rods for halibut and your bitter bottom fish. Other than the obvious, your name is Rod, how did you get into this business? I got into the business back in the early 90s with a friend from San Diego that taught me how to build rods and I enjoyed it and I stuck with it.
