9-28 SS Super Bait
Let’s talk hooks as in fishing hooks, bait as in super bait, leaders and other stuff that helps us catch salmon amongst other things.
Gamakatsu Si-Wash Hooks as opposed to trebles are exactly what Peter Flohr from Hooked on Toys in Wenatchee, Washington recommends. Peter is a nut for fishing and has told me he’ll help anybody learn to fish anytime they want. Here’s what you can learn: “Four 0000 Gamakatsu Si-Wash with an interesting string of little pink tube and glow beads, we call it a bumble bee leader which we use pretty much all season, I pretty much prefer a Si-Wash Hook because you don’t tend to lose as many fish on them as you do with trebles is my personal experience, and a lemon lime super bait filled with tuna and on the tuna as usual we had garlic. Define super bait. A super bait is a plastic bait that is banana shaped, it comes in a lot of different colors, and it is like a clamshell, it has a hinge towards the nose and a rubber band at the tail to hold it together. You open it up and the most common thing we put inside of it is tunafish packed in oil. Then we will use the various scents on the tuna as we see fit. The scent thing is more of an art than a science. There are things that we used more consistently than others, it’s a little bit of voodoo and a little bit of science. You know you sound like a mixture of a fishing enthusiasts and a catalog. ( laughter)
