9-26 IAN Ag Expo

9-26 IAN Ag Expo

An ag expo over in Meridian put on by an All-American ag teacher who, unfortunately, there are all too few of.

I have known Shane Stevenson for several years. He is completely involved as an agricultural teacher with his students and with promoting and upholding Future Farmers of America. He called me up the other day and asked for a plug. Would I give him a plug? Here’s the phone conversation. You make up your mind. “Every year we do an ag expo over here at Meridian high school and the whole Meridian school District puts it on so we have about 400 kids that will help out with that over the course of 3 days and we have about 3000 or more elementary students from the Meridian school District 1st through 3rd  graders come through and we have 30 stations that talk about where their food comes from and we also do things about natural resources,  all those things about Idaho that gets their food to the plate. Tuesday night from 5 until 8 o’clock we will be open for the public. We will have animals there so if any kids want to come face-to-face with sheep, cattle, horses, baby pigs, we will have it all their plus this year we are going to be talking about nutrients for life, we are going to have a couple of stations that are going to be talking about how important nutrients and fertilizers and those kinds of things are for getting food to our plate. And the title of this event is the Meridian FFA and Ag and Natural Resource Expo.
