Farmer’s nightmare on a snowboard.
Yesterday we heard Idaho farmer Sid Freeman tell his story about speeding downhill on a snowboard at bogus basin with his son and they were doing 60 mi./h. We said that probably no good could come from that and we pick up the story with Sid: “And then I went to slow down and my son started burning up energy, he was right in front of me and started sweeping back-and-forth, big sweeping curves to burn off energy because we were getting down towards the bottom and I am coming into him like a missile so I go into a toe carve and just for a few seconds, then found room to bail myself back into the run again, but before I bailed into the run, I glanced over my shoulder up the hill to make sure that no one was coming in behind me, so I glance and I am ready to go and I already shifted my weight on my board, well just as I did that, my board went across a berm that was left by the edge of the groomer, and my board looked into that berm, and it cammed out which meant the toe of my board pointed upwards and the middle of the board pointed down.” Result, smashed tibias and fibulas for Sid and an emergency trip to St. Lukes in Meridian. Tomorrow, the aftermath.
