Postal Closure Options & FFA Growing

Postal Closure Options & FFA Growing. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Northwest Report.

In the past year - more than 17-thousand new students have joined the FFA. The membership of more than 540-thousand members is a new all-time high for the organization since it was founded in 1928. National FFA CEO Dwight Armstrong says Texas leads the way.

ARMSTRONG: Texas is our largest membership state. We have all 50 states as well as Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands have state associations and memberships, Texas being the largest with a little under 82-thousand members.??Last week the U.S. Postal Service announced there would more than likely be more small town closures of local post offices. Now there is consideration of closing larger facilities. The possible closure of the large mail-processing operation in Pasco, Washington is now under consideration just two months after announcing a proposal to move Yakima, Washington’s postal processing to the Pasco. Seattle-based spokesman Ernie Swanson said the Postal Service is considering closing all mail-processing centers in the state except for in Seattle and Spokane, with each serving its side of the state as divided by the Cascades.

Now here’s today’s Washington Grange report.
