Northwest Weather Update

Northwest Weather Update. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Fruit Grower Report.

There are some people who are asking the question...when will summer get here? And indeed we have had a mild time of it. Meteorologist Tim Creek has a look at the next couple of weeks here in the northwest.

CREEK: Weather conditions for the northwest are going to continue to be - I would say slightly cooler than average over the next 2 to 3 weeks as we’ll continue to see - I’ll cal it an absence of any high pressure. We are going to see for the most part weak troughs of low pressure situated over the region which are going to help keep temperatures from getting excessively hot for any period of time.

Creek says there will be a few hot spells from time to time but for the most part temperatures will be at or slightly below average.

CREEK: The threat of isolated showers I’ll have to keep an eye on it on a real close basis but it does look pretty much dry with most shower activity when it does develop remaining to the north into British Columbia and Alberta and also to the east into maybe Northern Idaho and Western Montana. So I see a relatively quiet weather pattern. It’s definitely not a high pressure type of strong ridge and just close your eyes and repeat the forecast type of situation.

Bottom line.

CREEK: All-in-all not bad weather. It is going to be a situation where there’s a lot of low clouds in to western Washington and as a result we are going to see windy conditions at times down Cascades valleys but again it’s just an absence of high pressure for the most part a pretty decent forecast with sunshine and slightly cooler than average conditions.
