Profiling Ranchers

There was a time when the “ cowboy way” was something most people wanted to emulate.  Today the word is often used in a derogatory context especially by politicians, so it makes that this same   mindset would want to belittle the profession of ranching.  I’m Susan Allen stay tuned for Open Range. The liberal media and political set doesn’t like cowboys much, probably because they represent an independent and stoic type, not one for “group think”.  A reason I believe the word “Rancher” has been hijaked being used in the same negative connotation as  “cowboy”. Often it’s subtle, like the way some networks covered the border  murder of the the Arizona Rancher, and then  it can be bold and bias like the recent headline my local paper ran stating “Ranchers Face Poaching Case” Really, The individuals responsible were also loggers and pumped septic systems for a living.  Why not “ Septic Pumper Poached? Obviously there is some sort of an agenda behind tying one particular group of individuals, in this case ranchers to a controversial  issue....  wolves. When a couple of Native Americans were arrested  in possession of illegal eagle feathers , no headlines cried  “Indians Face Poaching Case”. It would have been unfair to ethical native Americans. I am weary of  bias reporting and labeling. The folks that produce the beef that provides valuable protein for this nation should be a source of inspiration for a country desperate in need of honor and  integrity.
