 What’s going on in Idaho with all the rain, and snow, the cold weather etc. over the last two springs.

 I recently called Ron Abramovich  USDA  NRCS  Snow Survey?Water Supply Specialist, Boise, Idaho and asked for a report on snowpacks around Idaho. Listen to what Ron had to say regarding  the amount of precipitation that appears to have come down across our state. “At Moore’s Creek snow course we measured a depth of 89 inches whereas normally on May 1 we find the depth of 69 inches and the water content in the snowpack was 37 inches while normally there is 28 inches of snow and what this means is that during the month of April the snow water content continued increasing up at Moore’s Creek. Overall the snowpack is 130% of average at that site. Overall in the Boise basin when you combine the snow courses and the automated snow tell sites the snowpack is 128% of average, the Big Wood is 120%, jumping to the headwaters of the Upper Snake, Henry’s Fork is 159%, Snake above Jackson is 161%, the Port Nif, it is 217% of average.”

 So with all of this above average precipitation, the question is are our weather patterns changing dramatically in the state of Idaho or for that matter across the world. We’ll talk to Ron about that tomorrow.
