Donated Bull Good gifts come in small packages, but this gift came in a large moveable package. I'm Jeff Keane and I'll be right back to explain. The Washington State Livestock Judging team just received a gift from Cal Kinney, owner of Rocky Mountain Angus Ranch. Kinney, from Payette, Idaho donated an Angus bull to the WSU Livestock Judging team to help pay travel expenses while competing in judging contests this year. The bull will be sold at the joint Washington Cattlemen's Association Washington State University bull test sale on March 22, 2005 at Prosser, Washington. Rocky Mountain Precision 409, the donated bull is currently on feed test with 135 more bulls, featuring Angus, Hereford, Polled Hereford, Red Angus, Braunvieh, and Simmental breeds. The feed test will be concluded in 120 days with the goal of moderate weight gain to keep the bulls from getting too fat and impairing reproductive potential. Rocky Mountain Precision 409 who has some of the leading Angus genetics in the breed today was one of the high gainers at the 40 day weigh date. Cal Kinney has brought bulls to the WCA/WSU bull test for many years and said he was pleased to make this donation to encourage participation by students in this excellent learning activity. This gift shows Kinney's interest in helping livestock students become industry leaders. I'm Jeff Keane. Capital Press 1/21/05 Ketch Pen January 2005
