Clore Center Construction

Clore Center Construction

Clore Center Construction. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Fruit Grower Report.

We have been talking for quite some time now about the Walter Clore Wine and Culinary Center. Now it is getting a bit closer to completion according to Deb Heintz with Prosser Economic Development.

HEINTZ: We are building an ancillary building that will help to put on the events at the Clore site itself so we are in our phase two of our phase 3. Phase 3 is the final building of the Clore Center itself. We’re waiting for an economic development administration grant. We should know within the next month or so. So right now we’ve got construction going on, we’ve got the trusses up, should be completed later part of May.

Heintz says the ancillary building will be used to host events and already has quite a number of bookings. The main hold up for the project has always been funding.

HEINTZ: We are waiting on the grant, the $2-million dollar grant from economic development administration and we have a good feeling that is going to happen so once we get our funding in place for that last little piece we will move forward and we will build the Clore Center.

When finally done the Clore Center should be a hub for wine lovers and wine tourism on the east side of Washington.

HEINTZ: It’s been a long time. As I understand it came out of a Prosser Economic Development idea. The was some interest but not enough and was dropped for a period of years and then brought back up and been going pretty strong since about 2003.
