Farm Bureau Meeting Talks Immigration

Farm Bureau Meeting Talks Immigration. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Fruit Grower Report.

There are a lot of questions about what is going on the in the realm of labor and immigration and Dan Fazio with Washington Farm Bureau says they are going to be looking at a lot of those things.

FAZIO: The Farm Bureau 7th Annual Washington Farm Bureau Labor Conference, the 16th of February, it’s an all day event in Ellensburg and people can register for that by going to the Farm Bureau website and then if the click on the education and training bug it will take them right to the registration and we’re going to be talking about immigration reform quite a bit

Fazio says their keynote speaker is someone who is familiar with some of these troubles in the state.

FAZIO: Our keynote speaker is Washington Attorney General Rob McKenna and he’s going to talk about the latest update in the healthcare lawsuit and other labor challenges that the AG’s offices have faced. We have top notch experts, lawyers, PhD’s, accountants talking about healthcare, talking about social security mismatch, talking about immigration reform, talking about these complex overlaps we’re starting to see in unemployment insurance and workers comp law.

Yes, you did hear correct, no-match letters.

FAZIO: The State of Washington has started doing some social security no-match in the unemployment insurance and DSHS recipients and things like that and it’s really caused a lot of consternation for our members.

That’s today’s Fruit Grower Report. I’m Greg Martin on the Ag Information Network.
