Washington winter wheat acres unchanged

Washington Ag Today January 13, 2011 The nation’s wheat growers increased their planted winter acres this past fall by ten percent over 2009 seedings. Growers in Washington however, did not. The Washington field office of the National Agricultural Statistics Service says the state’s farmers planted one million 750-thousand acres of winter wheat for harvest this year. That is unchanged from 2010 crop year plantings.

The Statistics Service says wheat stocks in Washington on this past December 1st were 109 million bushels, eight percent more than the previous year. Barley stocks in Washington December 1st were 1.1 million bushels, up 100-thousand bushels from 2009.

Now this from Stockland Livestock.

“This is Jack McQuiness with Stockland Livestock in Davenport talking to you farmers and ranchers. Got a big sale coming up on the 17th. We have lots of calves consigned from all across our trade area. Also got a couple of outstanding sets of bred cattle. The Timm ranch from up north is bringing in 55 head of big fancy home raised heifers. We also got the Quary ranch coming in with 150 head of cows. These will be four to nine year old cows. All early calvers. Still sell at one o’clock. Got a good run of feeders. Over a thousand on the books. We are working on a very strong market. Call us any time. 509-535-2444.
