Time to Breathe & Changing of the Guard

Time to Breathe & Changing of the Guard plus Food Forethought. I'm Greg Martin with today's Northwest Report. With the election passed there is of course some shuffling going on and that includes the House Agriculture Committee. Minnesota Congressman Collin Peterson will not be the chair but is happy to pass the hat on to Frank Lucas, who Peterson says will set the Farm Bill schedule. PETERSON: In terms of the timing we do have a difference of opinion there, he wants to wait and I think that's a mistake but that's his prerogative. He's going to have all the pressure and I'll help him when I think what he's doing is right and I'll tell him that if I don't think what he's doing is right I'll oppose him. And I think he knows me well enough to know how I approach things but I'll be straight up, I'll be fair, I'll let him know exactly where I'm coming from This time of year is typically a time to relax after the harvest has been done although this year there are still some intrepid producers picking apples and grapes thanks to a delayed harvest. But there is also the fact that the elections are now done...the campaign signs that have obscured the landscape for 1/3 of the year are coming down and we have our radio and TV stations back to normal. So put your feet up and have another cup of coffee. The leaves that need raking will wait. Now here's today's Washington Grange. (GRANGE) That's today's Northwest Report. I'm Greg Martin on the Ag Information Network.
