9-23 IAN Gleaner Combine

Farmers, something to look forward to when you  visit major farm shows this fall. A new toy to spend a lot of money on. I’m David Sparks and we’ll get a chance to hear about the new Gleaner® S7 Series combine.

Everybody loves to go to the car show, boat show, or in the case of ag producers, the farm show. You can go and drool over the latest and greatest model of  car, boat, tractor…you fill in the blank. But AGCO is distributing a new combine that sounds more high tech than the space shuttle. The heart and soul of the machine - according to AGCO Combine Product Manager Kevin Bien - is the 30-inch diameter transverse rotor. And because it’s positioned transversely rather than axially and is fed by two, four-strand feed chains that maintain the crop width into the rotor - it allows for what AGCO calls natural flow feeding. “We believe the important thing is managing the crop mat as you bring it into a combine. The S& maintains the width of the crop mat. The crop width is 39 inches from the time it enters the feeder house. We keep it nice and flat and when it gets to the processor, we don’t squeeze it or change direction of the crop.”

Bien says the transverse rotor provides 360 degrees of surface area for more effective threshing and separating. It provides greater capacity and increases performance and productivity because the four bar, 17 bar concave means the machine is threshing the entire circumference
