9-20 IAN 15% Blend

9-20 IAN 15% Blend

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said the Environmental Protection Agency is signaling it will approve raising the ethanol blend rate in gasoline to 15 percent from the current level of 10 percent. He believes that the EPA administrator has indicated that we’re all going to be able to get an Ethanol 15% blend . Vilsack was at the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines. And questioned what vehicles will the E15 blend apply to and, then, how do we build the industry from there.”  The American Farm Bureau Federation supports raising the ethanol blend rate to a level up to 15 percent. You may be surprised at the thoughts of Idaho Office of Energy Resources Senior Energy Specialist John Crockett with whom I had a conversation over this very subject: “I’ve lost friends over ethanol. The way this works is the EPA doesn’t want you putting fuel in your vehicle that kills people. So they certify the fuel at 10% with gasoline and they have certified it at 85% blend with ethanol. 10% is not a good blend from a technical standpoint. It was just an arbitrary number.” John says 15% is better.
