A Lot of Wildfires & Salmon Lawsuit

A Lot of Wildfires & Salmon Lawsuit. I'm Greg Martin with today's Northwest Report. Checking around the northwest there are quite a number of wildfires burning. Fires are burning south of Boise and also south and east of Mount Hood. In Valley County, Idaho evacuations were ordered due to strong winds pushing a wildfire towards homes. Jeree Mills, spokesperson for the NW Coordination Center says it's a good time to be cautious. MILLS: We're going to get quite a bit of wind; really strong wind, up to 30-40 mph wind and it's going to cover Washington and the northern part of Oregon so any fire that was to start there's a good chance it could take off pretty fast and become a large wildfire, so people need to be real careful of that. Plaintiffs in the lawsuit over salmon recovery in the Columbia River Basin system have filed an amended complaint contending the latest plan by federal agencies violates portions of the Endangered Species Act and other regulations. They also allege the recovery plans violate sections of the federal Clean Water Act because dams on the Columbia and Snake rivers alter or affect water quality by heating it and by creating dissolved gas supersaturation that is harmful to fish during periods of involuntary spills. Now here's today's Washington Grange Report. (GRANGE) That's today's Northwest Report. I'm Greg Martin on the Ag Information Network.
