Summer Wine Cocktails

Summer Wine Cocktails

Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran today we are going to talk about summer cocktails made with wine rather than spirits. Now I don't ordinarily mix my wine into anything but there are some occasions when a good wine based cocktail can be very refreshing. Wine is lower in alcohol than spirits and actually takes well to having additional flavors incorporated to it. During the summer fresh fruit is abundant and it is very conducive to being mixed with wine. I like to use strawberries and make a Sangria style drink. It is best served on the rocks in a big sassy glass! Another really great taste in summer is a spiced wine cocktail made with chenin blanc or gewürztraminer. You add spices like star anise, cloves and allspice. You should chill it for quite awhile and get it quite cold so you do not need to serve it on ice. My sister makes a great sparkling wine cocktail combining quava or passion fruit juice with sparkling Brut and garnishes it with slices of orange and lime. It is such a crowd pleaser as a brunch or afternoon cocktail. We also enjoy Cosmopolitan cocktails made by addinf cranberry juice and rose's lime to your bubbly. You can find these recipes on our website at aginfo.net If you have a wine cocktail recipe that you would like to share, email Linda at vine to wine dot net! Good times and good wines await us all, and thanks for joining me on today's Vine to Wine.
