Lloyd and Sharyl Haderle share their experiences of growing up in farm country, finding each other, and raising a family on a farm. As they look back, they look at how a dedication to family and hard work brought them together. This is a part of their story.

We grew up in Logan, Utah. Speaker3: I grew up outside of Logan and we had a small farm. We had about 2500 chickens. Speaker2: I say I grew up on a farm. Cheryl thinks that I was just a city boy, but those were fighting words for me. Speaker3: I really loved growing up on a farm. There were 11 children and my my family. And so we hauled hay together and we hauled beats together. And we had a lot of fun doing that. We'd make up songs and we'd sing songs out, and the beat field is we're working and we got along pretty well. Most of the time. Speaker2: I knew she was at BYU. I asked her for a date. She went with me and I say that we went on close to 12, maybe 15 dates total before we got married. Speaker3: I hope that wasn't true. Speaker2: It was. Speaker3: I really wanted to marry a farmer because like I said, I thought it was a great way to live. We had a strong family bond working together and everything. It was fun, so I wanted to raise my kids on a farm. We have eight children. They all helped us in Lloyd's work. We raised sugar beets for several years, especially Cheryl with our children went out and hoed sugar beets. It was before the Roundup Ready. Sugar beet days. A farm is an excellent way to raise children. The heart of America.
