Who's In Charge of the Oil Spill & Neglect Turns to Jail Time

Who's In Charge of the Oil Spill & Neglect Turns to Jail Time. I'm Greg Martin with today's Northwest Report. Yesterday the President got down and dirty with reporters regarding the BP oil spill in the Gulf, now the largest oil disaster in U.S. history and he insisted that his administration, not oil giant BP, was calling the shots OBAMA: The American people should know that from the moment this disaster began, the federal government has been in charge of the response effort. As far as I'm concerned, BP is responsible for this horrific disaster, and we will hold them fully accountable on behalf of the United States as well as the people and communities victimized by this tragedy. We will demand that they pay every dime they owe for the damage they've done and the painful losses that they've caused. And we will continue to take full advantage of the unique technology and expertise they have to help stop this leak. But make no mistake: BP is operating at our direction. Every key decision and action they take must be approved by us in advance. A Clackamas woman was arrested Tuesday after casino employees told police her 3-year-old had been left in a parked car for more than nine hours. It happened in the parking lot of the Palace Casino Tuesday morning. Two officers in the area arrested 32-year-old Valerie Tran, of Clackamas, for leaving the child in an unattended car. She told them she had been gambling since around midnight and had been checking in on the child. The child was not hurt and police said the child was put into the custody of child services. Now here's today's Washington Grange Report. (GRANGE) That's today's Northwest Report. I'm Greg Martin on the Ag Information Network.
