OSU Viticulture & Enology Meeting

OSU Viticulture & Enology Meeting. I'm Greg Martin with today's Fruit Grower Report. If you are a part of the wine industry you will want to make plans to attend the OSU Viticulture & Enology Research Colloquium on March 11th. Dr. Patty Skinkis talks about the meeting. SKINKIS: Well it's the event that will try to showcase as much of the outcomes of research that's currently being conducted in viticulture and enology here at Oregon State University. The faculty within the programs here and the food science and technology and the Department of Horticulture will be presenting topics of research that's been done over the last three years or potentially earlier than that. As well as some USDA Ag Research Service workers that also have been doing some work in the Pacific Northwest. She says there used to be a research event like this a few years past and they decided it was necessary to have a full research day. Oregon boasts some 856 vineyards and 395 wineries. SKINKIS: The acreage has been on a steady increase since 2000 and now of course with the economy things are slowing down a bit but we still have quite a few new advancements in our industry in terms of areas that tend to be increasing in acreage and developing and coming online with some of the new plantings. If you are interested in attending this research meeting your can get more information on the Oregon State Universities website or click the link on our website. That's today's Fruit Grower Report.
