WSDA Hands On Pesticide Training. I'm Greg Martin with today's Fruit Grower Report.
It will soon be time to get in the middle of the orchard and take care of those nasty little pests and that of course has to be done safely. Kirk Mayer, manager of the Washington Growers Clearing House Association talks about an upcoming pesticide training session for Spanish speakers.
MAYER: It's a one day training program that covers personal protective equipment, clean up, decontamination, respiratory protection, etc. and participants will earn a WPS handler training card or 6 pesticide recertification credits.
Mayer says that anybody that handles pesticides would benefit from this particular program.
MAYER: Reading the label will be covered so whenever changes occur of course it will be included in whatever label for that particular material. And so they will help people understand the label and understand where particular information is on the label.
The class takes place March 13th in Chelan and Mayer says the class is filling up so if you want to include your workers, contact the Growers Clearing House now.
MAYER: The class is limited to the first 50 participants and there is a $25 charge for Clearinghouse member's employees and in order to attend you must preregister. The class is in Spanish however if we have 9 applicants requesting an English version we can accommodate them.
