New Favorite Christopher Creek Viognier

New Favorite Christopher Creek Viognier

Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran. As many of you know my new favorite wine is usually the wine I am drinking at the time. You see I simply do not waste my time drinking wine I don not like. Today we talk about a lovely Viognier.

Last week we had dinner guests and they brought along two wines for us to share. It was a delight to see a wine I had never had. It was a Viognier from one of my very favorite growing regions of California, the Russian River Valley. It was Christopher Creek, vintage 2008, vineyard designated wine from a vineyard known as Catie’s Corner Vineyard named after the vineyard grower’s daughter. According to the info on the back of the bottle the wine was tank fermented and aged. That was a good thing, as it allows the perfume and the fruit to really show off. The fragrant wine was intoxicating and as it was chilled to the perfect temperature it was a wine worth dwelling over and I appreciated each sip. I went to the website and found out the wine is twenty eight dollars a bottle and to me worth every penny. It was long on the finish, beautifully balanced acid to fruit and easy to drink by itself, or with food. I would like to try it again with a main course. Yes I do enjoy Viognier as a rule. But trust me, this one is special and I am excited to share it with you. Remember to send your wine questions to Linda at vine to wine dot net, and thanks for joining me on today’s Vine to Wine.
