Real Estate Farm Expert

Real Estate Farm Expert

Want to know what’s going on in agriculture? Call your rural real estate broker. Talk about a weird day. I was looking to track down someone for an interview on cold weather and harvest delays so I Googled the expert but instead of getting him I got LeMoyne Realty and Appraisals in Twin Falls. So I called up and got Harry LeMoyne, a real estate man who has been in business since 1952. One of their specialties is farm and ranch sales so I asked him how sales were going. Listen to some of his answers.

“Very slowly. As a general rule, we have not had a lot of activity this year.”

What’s happened to the buyers? “I haven’t seen any of ‘em. They’ve gone ahead like the rock chucks and gone back in their hole.”

But Mr. LeMoyne knows his stuff when it comes to ag speak. “You get back here to the farming industry, the dairy people have had a lot of problems, the prices are coming up a little now but, we’re into the fall season where we have a big corn crop, we’ve had a big winter wheat crop, people are just sitting on their hands.”

This real estate man even knows about input costs: “The cost of operation continually holds on or goes up but the prices the farmers receive don’t, they continue to fall.
